This is the list of toys retailers say you WILL be buying your children this Christmas. They range from an already sold out pie in the face game to a Star Wars toy that costs an whopping £120.

The Toy Retailers Association published their official DreamToys list of the top 12 toys for 2015 yesterday. Is the list a genuine prediction for what will sell well, or a way for the retailers to push they toys they want you to buy? We'll let you decide - here they are...

1. City Deep Sea Exploration Vessel, LEGO Company

Bournemouth Echo:

A whopping £80 RRP, this LEGO® CITY model includes a remote sub and scuba scooter, winch system to lower the exploratory submarine into the water and a shark cage, plus a sunken ship.  If you want an alternative, Beales say their most popular Lego item is the Roaring Power car that changes into a dinosaur (£19.99.).

2. Disney Frozen Sing-A-Long Elsa, Jakks Pacific

Bournemouth Echo:

She's not quite the same as last year's Snow Glow Elsa - now you can sing along with her using the "magic" microphone. You sing, then pass the mike to Elsa and she'll take up where you left off. At £39, she's more expensive than Snow Glow Elsa (but if last year is anything to go by that price will have doubled by the start of December.)

3. IDO3D Deluxe 3D Design Studio Flair Leisure Products

Bournemouth Echo:

That's "I DO 3D". You're probably looking at this picture and thinking, what? Basically, you use the pens to "draw" (they work quite a lot like a glue gun) and then "set" the ink solid using the UV light. The drawing can then be lifted off the page and used to make 3D structures. To us, it looks messy. But maybe your kids are angels who DEFINITELY won't use it on the sofa.

4. Little Live Pets Cleverkeet, Character Options

Bournemouth Echo:

£60 will get you this parrot, who speaks, dances and eats. Currently on offer at Smyths and John Lewis, among others, if this looks like your kind of thing.

5. Paw Patrol Paw Patroller Spin Master Toys

Bournemouth Echo:

Don't be fooled by the picture on the box - although this Nickelodeon tie-in does carry up to three Paw Patrol vehicles and their drivers, it only comes with one. Kerry Reid at Beales says Paw Patrol sets are selling pretty fast, so if your children are fans, or already have Paw Patrol toys, it's worth getting this one before it sells out (it is £60, mind).

Items included on the list feature a Star Wars Bladebuilder Jedi Master Lightsabre and a Thunderbirds Interactive Tracy Island Playset, as collated by a panel of leading toy retailers including Argos, Boots, Selfridges, Smyths Toys and Toys R Us.

6. The one that's already sold out: Pie Face, Hasbro

Bournemouth Echo:

Maybe it's because I come from a pretty big (read rowdy) family, but the idea of a game where you might get a wet sponge in your face seems pretty genuis to me.  You put a substance of your choice on the hand, turn the handles and see if you're the one who gets it in the chops.  You score a point for every time you turn the handle without getting pie-faced, and the one who scores 25 points wins.

But it's already sold out almost everywhere, although we're pretty sure there will be more stock on the way - so if you don't want to be scouring eBay come Christmas Eve, it's worth putting your order in now.

7. Shopkins Food Fair – Scoops Ice Cream Truck, Flair Leisure Products

Bournemouth Echo:

You may have never heard of the Shopkins - but that's probably going to change. The Australian made toys were launched last summer, and have their own  YouTube cartoon series, which is coming to a TV near your next year. The tiny characters - slogan "once you shop you can't stop" - are designed to be collectables, and with almost 500 characters they will certainly provide present material for several birthdays and Christmases to come.  This ice cream truck, £16.99, comes with two Shopkins and accessories (and they're selling well, say Beales.)

8. Toot - Toot Friends Busy Sounds Discovery Home, Vtech Electronics

Bournemouth Echo:

If you have yunger children, chances are you alreayd own something by VTech. This, part of the Smart Friends range, has seven "Magic Points" that make things move, sing or speak. There are 43 different sounds and songs - which at least means it will take a bit longer for you to learn all of them by heart. RRP is £45, but its on sale in a couple of the bigger stores at the moment.

9. Thunderbirds - Interactive Tracy Island Playset, Vivid Toy

Bournemouth Echo:

Another one from the top end of the price list at £80, and another one that doesn't come with all the added extras pictured on the box. The Interactive Tracy Island has "over 50 action, lights and sounds with interactive launch stations and an international rescue communicator!" and will recreate the launch sequences your children will have seen on the new-look Thunderbirds - but only if you buy the Thunderbirds vehicles to go with it.

10. Star Wars Bladebuilders Jedi Master Lightsaber, Hasbro

Bournemouth Echo:

The new Star Wars film opens on the first day of the Christmas holidays - just long enough to convince your children that they NEED some Star Wars toys under their tree. This is the cheapest on the Dream Toys list, with an RRP of £50, and lets you make up to 100 different designs of lightsaber, apparently.

11. Star Wars Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle, LEGO Company Ltd

Bournemouth Echo:

It may be a whopping £100, but it does come with six minifigures, including a stormtrooper, plus Kylo Ren, the next generation's Darth Vader.

12. Star Wars The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon, Hasbro

Bournemouth Echo:

It fires NERF darts. It opens into a playset for all your newly purchased Star Wars figures. It's got light-up LED cannons, hyperdrive sound effects, as well as a playset area featuring a holochess board and a smuggling compartment. It's the flippin' Millenium Falcon, for goodness sake. It's also a pretty steep £120. (Interesting demonstration of the power of marketing: this original Millenium Falcon, which according the reviews underneath was £60 in 2009 is selling for a whopping £395 today).
