This picture of Winton and Moordown School boys class was taken outside the school in Coronation Avenue in the late 1940s or early 50s and belongs to former pupil Alan Mullins.
Alan has identified the boys as follows, back row, left to right, Phillips, Habgood, Lambert, Preston, McArthur and Pike. Middle row: Pearson, Alan Mullins, three unknowns, Fudge, Prothro, Ray Merryfield, Billy Taylor and an unknown. Front row: Maidment, Michael Giles, an unknown, Shearing, Brian Hoskins, two unknown, Kitchener, Miles and Coul.
Alan was 12 or 13 years old when the picture was taken. He left school, as many did, at the age of 15. His wife Janet who is a few years younger, also attended the school.
He remembers that Billy Taylor became a wrestler and the father of one of the boys in the picture ran Muscliffe Farm.
Alan has lost touch with many of the boys, although some still live in the Winton and Moordown area of Bournemouth. Preston he knows now lives in Australia.
Contact Echoes if you can name the unknown boys or if you know of the whereabouts of any of those pictured.
