A NEW festival is set to take place at a farm and campsite in East Dorset next month.

Classic rock and blues festival Loverocks is due to be held for the first time at St Leonards Farm and Campsite on June 16-17 with live music, camping, glamping and a range of entertainment.

The family-friendly event is the first of its kind and is run by former university students - site owner James Love and promoter Simon Oakley and co-promoter Mark Campbell.

There will be food stalls, a children's play area and facepainting in addition to the live rock music from such bands as Just Floyd - whose performance includes a light and projection show of the whole of Dark Side of the Moon - and UK Foo Fighters, descried as "just about the best Foo Fighters tribute band in the world".

"They have actually played with the band and there is quite a big connection between them and it is the band's 10th anniversary," Mr Oakley said.

He said: "The venue owner, Mr Love, is an old university friend of mine. We talked about putting on a festival at his campsite when we were at university. So it's been in the making for quite a long time."

Since that time Mr Oakley, of company Sanctuary Media Entertainment Ltd, has put on a couple of festivals of his own in East Sussex.

Around 50 per cent of the 499 tickets have been sold, Mr Oakley said.

In addition to bringing campervans and tents, revellers will have the chance to hire yurts should they choose to do a spot of glamping over the weekend.

As well as Just Floyd, Friday, June 16, will see Arrows of Time, Kit Trigg, Heligan Sound and Serpent Kings.

Saturday will see Bournemouth-based Western Sand, Greg Griffin and Midnight Clergy, Pearl Handled Revolver, Kris Barras, Stonewire, The Speak and Brent Hutchinson.

Mr Oakley said they expect the event to sell out by June 9.
