PLACES are still available for this year's Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride in July.

The popular event, which attracts hundreds of cyclists every year, will take place on Sunday, July 3, through the Dorset countryside.

The event has six circular routes of differing distances from 10 miles, 25, 38, 48, 60 and 100 mile courses to take on.

Full support is given to the cyclists around the course, from Macmillan marshals and volunteers directing and providing refreshments along the way.

Sponsorship raised will go towards Macmillan, with hundreds of thousands of pounds raised each year.

The event was started in 1989 by Peter Smith-Nicholls, and now sees around 800 cyclists take part.

It is supported by bike store Primera Sport and backed by the Daily Echo.

On the day cyclists are supported by Brenscombe Outdoor Centre and Castle Cameras.

To sign up and help people living with cancer, go to macmillanbikeride.co.uk or call 01202 601705 for entry forms.

All the routes start from Corfe Mullen recreation ground.
