MORE buses have been laid on for revellers at this year's Wimborne Folk Festival after problems last year.

Extra services from morebus will be running throughout the weekend of June 10, 11 and 12.

Last year, revellers were stranded and faced hours waiting for taxis and buses, with the police called in to deal with the mounting tension.

But this year, journeys will be added from Wimborne to Poole on morebus' 4 service and back to Bournemouth via the 13 on Friday and Saturday night.

“We have listened to those who found travelling to and from the events last year a little challenging - and we’re working closely with organisers to run services designed to suit those wishing to attend this time around,” said morebus area manager, Adam Keen.

“The folk festival is held in high esteem and the music event Party in the Paddock is ever popular - with thousands expected to enjoy the delights on offer over the course of the weekend this year.

"Our team is keen to make sure all festival-goers have the opportunity to make their way to and from the event quickly and in comfort."

Wimborne Minster Folk Festival chairman Mike Carhart-Harris, added: “The folk festival and Party in the Paddock attract thousands of people to Wimborne over the weekend.

"We are keen to encourage as many people as possible to travel to the festival without bringing their car, reducing congestion, pressure on car parks and the impact on the environment.

"It’s also important to us that those attending our official concerts or fringe events such as Party in The Paddock are able to get home safely and easily.

“We have listened to feedback from festival-goers, local residents and the police about the need for more late-night transport last year and are delighted that morebus will be running additional buses back to Bournemouth and Poole this year."

Party in the Paddock takes place in Wimborne Minster on Friday June 10 from 7pm to 12am, Saturday June 11 from 12pm to 12am; and Sunday June 12 from 12pm to 6pm.
