1. Poole Festival of Running takes place on Sunday in Poole Park. Online entries are now closed but there is still time to sign up for one of the events, including the children’s minithons, 5k charity race supporting the cancer centre at Poole Hospital, and the main 10k road race. Entries will be accepted in person at Poole Park on Saturday June 6 from 12noon until 4pm, or on race day on Sunday, thirty minutes before each race. Elite runners set to take part include Ben Siwa and Rachael Chebet Zena.

2. The first-ever Swanage Fish Festival takes place from Friday to Sunday. The event will include cooking demonstrations, foraging master-classes and sea-shanty singing. Ed Baines, co-owner at Randal & Aubin, of Soho in London and ‘Britain’s Best Dish’ fame is supporting the event and will be on hand to offer advice on serving up the perfect fish dish. 3. Join Hattie Miles for a circular ‘walking talk’ on Sunday and uncover The Hidden Secrets of Bournemouth. The walk, which lasts approximately one hour and 45 minutes, starts at 4pm from Hotel Miramar on the East Cliff. There’s no need to book, simply turn up and meet in the hotel’s reception. 4. An evening of live music in aid of the NSPCC takes place this Friday, June 5 at the Litten Tree on Old Christchurch Road. The Skool of Rock is set to will feature Empire Affair, Saints of Sin, The Sacre Blues and Chris Payn from 8pm to 11.55pm. Entry costs £5 per person. 5. A ladies’ party night takes place at The Hub in Verwood tonight from 8pm to 12-midnight .There will be a disco, cocktails and fun at the event, which costs £10 per person. 6. A psychic craft and beauty fair is being held at Kinson Community Centre on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. There will be stalls with gifts, candles, crystals, jewellery, and other handmade items. Health and beauty advice will also be available at the event, as well as free talks and demonstrations on reflexology, crystal healing and psychic surgery. Entry is free.

8. Get your skates on and head to the David English Leisure Centre for a family roller disco on Saturday. The Rolltate roller disco offers two rinks; one for beginners and another for more experienced skaters with a DJ on hand to play songs as you skate. Entry £3 (Plus skate hire, if required)

9. Discover RSPB Arne Nature Reserve after dark on Saturday and go in search of nocturnal wildlife. Expect to see everything from nightjars and glow worms to owls and bats between 8pm and 10.30pm. 11. The Banff Film Festival returns to Lighthouse Poole this weekend. Watch amazing footage of adrenaline packed action sports from across the globe from some of the most talented adventure sport film makers. Prices £15.25 including booking fee. There are screenings at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday night.

12. A boat which took part in the wartime evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 will visit Poole this weekend to mark the 75th anniversary. The historic ‘little ship’ Aquabelle will be moored at Poole Quay between Saturday and Thursday.

13. The Dolphin Shopping Centre will be hosting an array of musical performances on Saturday to mark the D-Day commemorations and the 70th anniversary of VE Day. Between 10.30am and 1.30pm, local musicians will be entertaining shoppers in Falkland Square with a selection of songs from the 1940s.
