POOLE Quay is getting ready for its annual battle of the bikes.

As the summer season comes to an end, the finale of the Coles Miller Dream Machines event takes place on September 24.

The fantastic finale gathers Bike of the Night winners from this year’s season to compete for the coveted Bike of the Year title and Midge Holloway Trophy.

Voting is open to fellow riders, spectators and members of the public, and all are encouraged to vote for their favourite.

To help spectators choose, owners provide a history for each of the competing bikes. There are no set rules and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Organised by Poole Tourism, the event is part of Wave 105 Summertime in the South.

Bikes will be on display outside the Thistle Hotel from 6pm, with voting from 6.15pm.

The 2013 Bike of the Year winner announced at around 8pm.

Adrian Cormack, partner at event sponsors Coles Miller Solicitors, said: “2013 has been a superb season, with riders taking advantage of a fantastic summer to show off their bikes and enjoy Poole Quay.

“The loyal following of friendly local regulars coupled with the fantastic location has seen the event’s reputation spread across the whole of the south. This year competitors and enthusiasts from as far afield as Wales, the Channel Islands and St Ives have come just to soak up the atmosphere.

“It’s a tribute to all those involved in the local biking community, the volunteer Marshals and the events team that Coles Miller Dream Machines is such a success each year.”

A host of prizes are on offer, including cash, family memberships to the National Trust, vouchers, trips away and motorbike gear. Bike of the Year contestants will also be in with a chance of winning family tickets to Beaulieu in the prize draw.
