A Fine Art Photography student at AUB is hosting a one off event at the Winchester on the 14th April to fund a wildlife documentary and raise awareness for the endangered species of Madagascar.

Christian Marot and his friend from home, Layla May have created the event, aptly named ‘Mad Gassed’ with the aim to inform party-goers about the diversity of Madagascan animals and the fast decline of their habitat. Amazingly, around 95% of the wildlife found in Madagascar is found nowhere else in the world, and within the last 10 years alone 615 new species have been discovered.

“There has been a massive incline in the widespread clearance of forests for global industries, jeopardising the island’s habitat and rich indigenous wildlife. My night aims to raise awareness of this.” says Christian, 19. Having always been a “big wildlife lover, Attenborough admirer and photographer, Madagascar has always jumped out to me.”

The short wildlife documentary that Christian will be shooting in the Summer months will focus on the diversity of Madagascar’s endemic animals and their fast reduction.

With the line up still to be announced, Christian says to “expect tribal vibes and good music all night.”As always at The Winchester, fancy dress and creativity is encouraged, particularly ‘tribal attire and afro garms’ as requested on the Mad Gassed event page. Live visuals collated from Madagascar will create the scene for the night, and face paint and glitter will be at your disposal.

Follow the event on Facebook, press attending and start feeling the Afro vibes by listening to Christian’s music posts.

Tickets will be on sale online at the AUB campus closer to the date.
