Last night the annual Student Rep Awards were held at the Old Fire Station, celebrating another brilliant year for representation.

With over six hundred students representing their fellow peers each year, the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University is widely recognised as having one of the best representation systems in the world.

Hosted by Nerve Radio’s Michael Franks and Dom Beltcher, the awards began with a short speech by Bournemouth University Vice Chancellor Professor John Vinney. He praised the representation system, reiterating how important it is that students get their voices heard.

Following the speech a number of reps were recognised with bronze, silver or gold awards depending on their achievements as a Student Rep this year. ‘You’re Brilliant’ Awards were also given to Reps, nominated by both BU Staff and Students.

Faculty of Media and Communications were the big winners of the night, taking home the ‘Faculty of the Year’ prize while the Media School Programme Administration team won the ‘Outstanding Staff Contribution’ award.

The evening finished with the Student Rep of the Year prize going to Anniek Bruijnzeels and the Outstanding Contribution to Representation prize being jointly awarded to Jake Ross and Fay Sabini for their tireless work to ensure the voices of students are being heard.
