WORK to improve classroom facilities at Linwood School has been approved by Bournemouth council.

At a meeting on Wednesday the cabinet approved the inclusion of the build project in the council’s Capital Programme and agreed to contributing £800,000, dependent on £600,000 funding from the school.

The project will see the removal of the existing four classrooms and replaced with a six classroom two-storey modular extension.

Cllr Nicola Greene, cabinet member for education and children’s services, said: “The existing accommodation at Linwood School is being improved in order to meet the increasingly complex needs of some of our children and young people in Bournemouth.

"Linwood is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and has an excellent reputation and these new facilities aim to support and enhance the learning of the pupils who attend Linwood.”

The improvement works are due to be completed by August 2017.
