A LONG-ESTABLISHED Boscombe pre-school has received a glowing report following a visit from government inspectors.

Ofsted representatives could not fault St Clements Pre-school, heaping praise on its teaching, management and the progress made by its young users.

The group meets at St Clements Church Hall in St Clements Road on weekday mornings and has 27 youngsters on roll between the ages of three and five. It received the highest possible grade of Outstanding.

Inspectors said: “Staff have an outstanding knowledge of how to meet children’s individual emotional needs, resulting in children who are extremely confident, motivated and secure to explore and learn. Staff skilfully involve parents in their children’s learning and progress. The quality of teaching is exceptional. Children develop extremely good conversational skills, including those who learn English as an additional language.”

Ofsted said safeguarding and welfare requirements are given high priority. They added: “Children make extremely strong progress from their starting points. They gain excellent skills and knowledge that prepares them exceptionally well for future learning.”

The pre-school is run by Elaine King and Rachael Hills who said they were thrilled to achieve a second rating of Outstanding. They added: “Access to high quality care and education is vital to ensuring that children have the best possible start in life. Ofsted statistics continue to show that providers in disadvantaged areas are less likely to achieve an Ofsted judgement of good or outstanding. We have proved that this doesn’t have to be the case and providers can achieve great results with commitment, dedication and a great team.”
