A PRE-school in East Dorset has achieved an 'outstanding' result in its 2016 Ofsted inspection.

Pamphill Pre-school was awarded the highest rating possible in the report, published following a visit from inspectors last month.

The village school, based on the outskirts of Wimborne, operates from Pamphill First School's hall.

It provides term-time childcare for youngsters aged two to four and is managed by Debbie Gould, who said she was "extremely proud" of the rating.

"I am so pleased with this result, not only for the pre-school itself, but for the team I work with and the children we look after," she said.

"I feel very privileged to be part of such a lovely setting, and my team and I work extremely hard with the committee and our parents to ensure we are offering an extensive range of learning opportunities in a fun and nurturing environment.’

The inspection found Pamphill Pre-school to be outstanding in all four key areas.

These are effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

Inspector Shirelle Norris focused on the progress of the children across all areas of their learning, writing in the report: "The teaching is outstanding.

"Staff make exemplary use of extremely detailed assessments to make certain they provide challenge to all children.

"Children constantly have chances to engage in relevant and meaningful learning opportunities and make exceptional progress."

The pre-school is currently full.
