FIVE brave pupils joined their teacher in an event to help ease the plight of children suffering from cancer.

They all had their hair cut off to donate it to the Little Princesses Trust charity, which uses it to make real hair wigs for children who have suffered hair loss as a result of cancer treatment.

Kelly Paixao, Milly John, Mariana Mengotti, Oliwia Ochnik, Adaya Brandon and teacher Sarah Melbourne all had plaits of at least seven inches cut off at St Michael’s primary school in West Hill Road, Bournemouth.

Hairdressers Miles Spencer, also a TA, and school grandparent Jill Oliver both volunteered their time free of charge to cut the hair.

“I told the girls at the end of last term that I had planned to cut and donate my hair and they showed a keen interest in joining in too and it went from there,” said Mrs Melbourne.

“As a school we encourage

charitable acts and this was something that we felt strongly about.”
