INFANTS in Bournemouth were jumping for joy after inspectors rated their school as outstanding.

Youngsters at St Clement's and St John's Church of England school in Boscombe were treated to a day on a bouncy castle following the school's latest church inspection.

The National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report was produced by an inspector, Rev Andrew Rickett, following a visit to the St Clement's Road school on November 30.

He said: "The Christian love that underpins the school's mission ensures that all children are cared for and nurtured as unique individuals.

"The passion and commitment of school leaders ensure that the Christian vision has meaning and purpose for all members of the school and wider community."

Head teacher Andy Poole said he wanted to thank the children for all their hard work and decided to hire a bouncy castle for the day, giving each class a chance to have some fun.

He said: "St Clement’s and St John’s is a product of our whole community and we are so proud of what has been achieved here."

The school is a larger than average size infant school with 268 children on roll.

Pupils come from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds and many have English as an additional language.

Mr Rickett said the school's Christian message has been carefully created to reflect the needs of all children.

He added: "Children show a high degree of appreciation for the range of cultures and faiths that make up the school community."
