BOURNEMOUTH Collegiate School pupils Finn Trehane and Tom Bourne are celebrating after winning special honours at United Learning’s national Best in Everyone Secondary School Awards.

United Learning is a group of independent schools and academies located across the country. Each year it hosts an awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of its students. Students were nominated by their teachers for subject-based and sports awards as well as awards which recognised their wider service to their school.

Finn Trehane was given the award for Sportsman of the Year for Years 7-9. Finn is a National swimming champion in the 200m breaststroke and Silver medalist in the National championships. He was a multiple gold medalist at both the county and regional championships. Finn has also regularly represented the school rugby team and is National Champion for surf lifesaving and competed at county standard for cross country.

Year 10-13 Sportsman of the Year was awarded to Tome Bourne. Tom competes at a National level in both Cross Country and 1500m.

His recent achievements include first place in the South of England Inter Counties 1500m, Bronze medallist in the National 1500m championships and number one runner in his age group in the Dorset squad for the forthcoming English Schools Cross Country Championships.

Bournemouth Collegiate School’s Headmaster Russell Slatford said: "I am delighted for both Finn and Tom to win these prestigious awards. They have both worked really hard to achieve such impressive sporting accolades and we are all really proud of them at Bournemouth Collegiate School."
