A SCHOOLGIRLhas bagged herself the top prize in a competition run by the new Tesco store in Kinson.

Trevor Henstridge, manager of the Tesco store, on Wimborne Road, invited primary school pupils to let him know what they love about their local area and creative pupils set to work designing colourful posters showing their favourite things in Kinson.

With the help of his team, Trevor selected Megan Thomas, age seven, from Kinson Primary School as the winner.

“We’re proud to now be serving the people of Kinson at our new Tesco store and it was great to see that local children are proud of their local area too”, said Trevor.

“We picked Megan’s design because it was so bright and colourful and illustrated what she loves about Kinson in clear but creative way – well done, Megan.”

Megan’s design shows a rainbow highlighting what she loves about her local area in each of the different coloured arches including Kinson library, Kinson Common and the community. Her design has been transferred on to limited edition gym bags and given out to all the children at Kinson Primary School.

As well as the bags, Megan has also won a £25 Tesco gift card for herself, a £200 donation for her school and Junior Chefs’ Academy workshops for her class.

Tracy Munday, Deputy Head at Kinson Primary School, said; “We’re delighted that one of our students won the Tesco competition. Megan’s design is very colourful and we will all enjoy seeing her design on the bags.

“Our students thoroughly enjoyed the Junior Chef’s Academy workshop and they were able to learn about healthy eating in a fun and exciting way.”
