INSPIRATIONAL teenager Hannah Ansell was invited to the Goldsands Stadium to meet one of her heroes – AFC Bournemouth star Matt Ritchie.

Hannah visited the ground for a photo with one of her favourite players as part of the Coles Miller Solicitors and LV= Streetwise Soccer Safety School partnership project, which is supported by the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and Bournemouth University.

The Parkstone Grammar School student has been working with LV= Streetwise to help local pupils learn about road safety after being involved in a road accident herself last year.

She was hit by a van in May 2014 but her life was saved thanks to learning about the importance of wearing a cycle helmet at LV= Streetwise.

Hannah re-enacted her accident as part of the charity’s new promotional video and it is set to be shared with visitors and supporters of the centre.

The Broadstone-based teenager is a big football fan and plays for Corfe Mullen United Juniors, having previously represented AFC Bournemouth in the Football League Girls Cup in 2013.

“Hannah just loves football and she really enjoyed meeting Matt" said Hannah's mum, Kate.

“She has been to the stadium to watch the Cherries and the England women’s team in the past few years, but this is a visit she will never forget.

“Hannah missed playing football while she was recovering from the accident but is back on the pitch now. It meant a lot to her when Matt wished her good luck for the rest of the season.”

Alison Shelton is the chief executive of SafeWise, which runs the LV=Streetwise centre in Elliott Road, West Howe, Bournemouth.

She said: "Repeated messages around risk, consequence and personal responsibility threaded through engaging activities are vital if young people are to take staying safe to heart. We are incredibly pleased and proud to be part of the Coles Miller Soccer Safety School scheme.”
