A HEADTEACHER has been appointed for the new Twynham Primary in Christ-church.

Jonathan Chapple, currently deputy head at Stourfield Junior in Southbourne, will take up his post after Easter.

He will take over what is currently a school within a school at Christchurch Infants.

Two classes at the Addis-combe Road school are housed in temporary accommodation at the moment but will move to Twynham School’s site in Sopers Lane in September.

A completely new school, to be known as Twynham Primary, will be built in the future.

The new school will form part of the Twynham Pyramid and Mr Chapple was put through a two-day interview process with headteachers from five other Christchurch primary schools.

He said: “It’s an honour to be working with such a dedicated team. The prospect of develop-ing a new school for the children in Christchurch is amazing and I look forward to meeting the children.”

Mr Chapple and teachers from Christchurch Infant School will be moving to the Twynham site with the child-ren in September.

Twynham head Dr Terry Fish added: “This is such a unique opportunity for us all and I am indebted to Jane Ashenden, headteacher of Christchurch Infant School, my school colleagues, the local authority and the parents who have made this a reality.”
