MORE than 100 Bournemouth students have taken part in an indoor rowing competition hosted by Harewood College.

The Bournemouth Indoor Rowing Championships attracted dozens of talented rowers from eight schools.

The winners will go on to compete in the Dorset School Games finals on March 23, which will be held at the Oak Academy.

The eight schools, which took part in the Bournemouth qualifier, were the hosts Harewood College along with Avonbourne College, The Bishop of Winchester, Oak Academy, Glenmoor, Talbot Heath and Winton Arts and Media College.

The following teams will now go on to compete in the county finals: Year 7 Girls: Talbot Heath; Year 7 Boys: Harewood College; Year 8 Girls: Talbot Heath; Year 8 Boys: Winton; Year 9 Girls: Talbot Heath; Year 9 Boys: Harewood College.

Executive headteacher of Harewood College, Debbie Godfrey-Phaure, said: “It was a privilege to organise and hold such an exciting sporting event at our school.

“I’m very proud that once again our Harewood boys not only played the perfect hosts but also produced brilliant winning teams.

“Everyone who took part did themselves proud and I wish all the winners luck in the county finals.”
