Budding journalists at a Poole school have proudly presented the first edition of their new online school magazine.
Behind The Scenes At Oakdale Junior was compiled by a team of students who were successful after a gruelling selection process.
Youngsters from years 3 to 6 applied for roles on the magazine and were interviewed and questioned about their ideas before being chosen to take part in the initiative. Led by chief editor Tilly Woolridge, 10, and her deputy, 11-year-old Chelsea Ambrose, the team produced their first 12-page, online magazine just before Christmas and are now working on the next edition.
The first edition included a lively selection of articles such as a focus on the school library, poems, jokes and tasty food recipes.
Teacher Daniel Carter said he believed the magazine brought literacy to life for the pupils and praised their commitment to the project.
He said: “It was treated as if they were applying for a real job and they all took the selection process very seriously.
“We did not necessarily pick the best writers because we wanted the project to engage and interest all abilities.
“The magazine has gone down very well throughout the school.”
