EXCITED staff and pupils have moved into state-of-the-art new buildings at Kingsleigh Primary School.

Finishing touches are still being put to the £5million building project which has transformed the Hadow Road site.

It now boasts the biggest school hall of any primary school in the area as well as 16 new classrooms, an Astroturf multi use games area and new kitchens providing hot lunches for hundreds of children.

There is also a new staff room, teaching spaces and toilets.

Head teacher Richard Gower said the school currently has 530 pupils and he expects more to join in the coming years.

“The building project has made a huge difference to the school and staff and pupils are all very proud of it,” he said. “It is good to see them learning in such lovely surroundings.

“Treating staff and children well in a good learning environment means they will enjoy their learning and get better results.”

Mr Gower said he hopes the facilities will be used by the members of the community in the evenings and at weekends and is keen to hear from anyone interested.

The Daily Echo was given a tour of the new facilities by Year 6 pupils Louise, Maisie, Paige, Safwan and Danny.

Maisie said: “We are really pleased with the new buildings. I wish I wasn’t in Year 6 because I will be leaving next year.”

And Safwan added: “The classrooms are much bigger and better than the old ones.”
