CHRISTMAS arrived early at Highcliffe School when students filled an impressive 474 shoe boxes with festive gifts for disadvantaged children.
Students and staff have been taking part in the Rotary charity scheme for 11 years and have sent thousands of presents to children overseas.
It has been a real team effort with a team of Year 9 students wrapping boxes during their lunch breaks and tutor groups competing to see who can collect the most shoeboxes.
Head teacher Patrick Earnshaw said: “Our school strongly encourages our students to have a caring, compassionate attitude towards others. The shoebox appeal is a great example of what this leads to, when families rally round to ensure so many very poor children overseas will receive unexpected gifts this Christmas.”
