| SPOTTED: Liam Gallagher |
MY favourite story about the host of celebrities that haven't lived locally involves Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
Liam, it appears, had been spotted having dinner in Café Shore in Sandbanks, a story that actually did have a great deal of truth attached to it.
A few weeks later, a man wearing what looked like a Parka-style coat was seen walking down the driveway of a posh house in the area.
He could have been any tradesman or Tom, Dick or Harry, but in a perfect example of one plus one not making the usual two, the assumption was made that the notoriously mouthy Liam was buying a place in the area.
He - along with other famous names like Elton John, the Beckhams and, Heaven forbid, billionaire Bill Gates - never quite made the journey, along with film star Johnny Depp.
Of course, this newspaper has to accept some of the blame for these tall tales - celebrity urban myths if you like - simply because we react to tip-offs from our contacts in such a positive manner rather than dismiss them out of hand.
After all, what's so surprising about seeing somebody with lots of money driving around a place where you need lots of money to buy a house?
But yes, we hold our hands up and admit we love the stories and long for the day when Brad and Angelina are spotted filling their bags in Poole's Primark store.
But for now, we'll have to make do with our 'Arry, and son Jamie and Louise's regular visits and the odd sighting of Jonathan Ross in the Purbecks.
Oh and did we tell you about somebody spotting Tom Cruise in the Lord Nelson?
