THOUSANDS of music fans are expected to head for Purbeck next month for the popular Swanage Blues Festival.

Blues fans from around the world often travel to the event, which this year includes 30 bands playing 15 indoor venues across four days.

Organiser Steve Darrington said: “The Swanage Blues Festival brings together an amazing collection of blues musicians, fans and friends for a weekend of jams, open mics and headline performances that will have you coming back time after time.”

Bands such as Back Porch, John McClean & The Clan, the Kevin Brown Trio, Lewis Cohen and the Fabulous Fezheads are among the host of acts taking part this year.

Steve says the festival -– now in its 24th year –- is able to keep going because of the loyalty of fans, who purchase wristbands at £10.

“It’s an honesty thing,” Steve explained. “If we had to have security staff the admission price would increase to more than £30 a weekend just to cover the extra costs.”

Venues this year include the Black Swan, The Legion, Ship Inn and the Anchor.

Steve said: “Get your dancing shoes ready for the Swanage Blues Festival. Thousands of fans come from all over the world to create a big town party in 15 indoor venues, where they enjoy 30 bands playing music for dancing, drinking, eating, laughing and loving.”
