Protect your vaulables at crime prevention roadshows
4:00pm Monday 8th October 2012 in Purbeck
A SERIES of road shows to promote crime prevention is being held in Purbeck starting from today.
The road shows will include representatives from Dorset Police, Purbeck District Council and other agencies.
There will be a specially kitted-out car to raise awareness of vehicle crime and a shed to promote shed or outbuilding security. Members of local Safer Neighbourhood Teams will also be present to help security-mark bikes. The events will also be used to consult residents about the factors which might influence the fear of crime.
Steve Mackenzie, Chief Executive of Purbeck District Council, said “Purbeck is a very safe place and, thankfully, the level of crime here is very low. Nevertheless, there are still some people who think that the threat of crime is greater than it really is. We want to understand why people should feel afraid of crime when the level is so low and what influences their opinions.
“We hope that people will be able to pick up some useful tips at the road shows to make sure that crime figures remain low.”
The road shows are taking place at the following venues:
Monday 8 October
- 10am Carey Road, outside the Post Office
- 1pm Sainsbury's car park
Tuesday 9 October
- 10am Spar, Upton
Thursday 11 October
- 10am D'urberville Centre, Wool (outside country market)
- 1pm Lulworth main car park
Friday 12 October
- 10am Lytchett Matravers (recreation ground car park)
- 1pm Bere Regis (outside Doctors Surgery)

Protect vaulables ? Is this some new way of spelling valuables, are there any Echo reporters who are not illterate.
BTW what sort of people go to these shows? What do they learn there that is not common sense? Is it just a day out of the office for the cops? How much time preparing? Just intrigues me.
