THOUSANDS of festival-goers will be hoping for good weather as they flock to Lulworth Castle this weekend for Camp Bestival.
The fairytale-themed festival in the grounds of historic Lulworth Castle is the highlight of this weekend’s events’ line-up.
Crowds will be treated to performances from Calvin Harris, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Madness, the Human League and Billy Bragg.
The English National Ballet, children’s favourite Mr Tumble and comedians Tim Minchin and Marcus Brigstocke will also be part of the eclectic line-up.
And the Mix It Up DJs, who usually showcase their skills at club nights run by and for people with learning disabilities, will be making a repeat appearance at Camp Bestival following last year’s successful debut.
But Camp Bestival is just one of many family-friendly events taking place this weekend.
On Saturday, the Friends of the Priest’s House Museum will host a music and art event, featuring demonstrations of traditional music and dances.
And on Sunday, the Thai Summer Fair will return to Kings Park in Boscombe for the seventh successive year.
This festival aims to bring a true taste of Thailand to Bournemouth, including delicious food, classical dancing, boxing, massage and a variety of stalls selling traditional Thai products.
Sunday is also the day of the Swanage carnival procession, which starts from Sandpit Field at 3pm.
With a theme of ‘fantasies and fairytales,’ this parade is sure to be colourful, noisy and vibrant.
The line-up includes eight bands, a range of ingenious floats, dancers, majorettes and clowns.
The 2.5mile procession routes takes in the seafront and town centre and will be lined by crowds of spectators.
Meanwhile, Mudeford Quay will host the annual lifeboat funday, which will include demonstrations by the lifeboat and coastguard rescue helicopter and an entertaining raft race. The fun will start from 10am and go on into the afternoon.
