'Nothing wrong with my Staffie,' says dog owner

THE owner of a dog which a woman claims attacked hers in Swanage has hit back.

As reported, Carol Osborne said she feared a child or elderly person could get hurt by the Staffordshire Bull Terrier which ran out of a house in Bell Street, Herston, and got into a tangle with her Jack Russell, Suzie.

But Andrew Kelly, who owns the Staffie, Arnie, defended his and his dog’s actions.

He said both dogs got into a fight together, it was not a case of his dog attacking Mrs Osborne’s.

Mr Kelly said he paid £700 of vet’s bills to Mrs Osborne and refutes that his dog has attacked other dogs around the town, as she had claimed.

He said Arnie was fine with his six-year-old daughter and was fearful of other dogs because he had been attacked before.

“If it wasn’t a Staffordshire Bull Terrier none of this would have happened. If it was two Jack Russells fighting it would have been different.

“We have had the RSPCA round and they took one look at the dog and said there was nothing wrong with him.”

Mr Kelly also has a report from the Canine Academy that says Arnie is fine with children.

Mrs Osborne maintained that the Staffie had attacked her Jack Russell, which was on a lead, after running out from a house.

She said the bills had been paid by Andrew Kelly but added that various people had told her his dog had attacked others.

So her Jack Russell was on a lead, when it ran out of the house.
Why, if it is in the house, was it on a lead, and as it ran out of the house, it wasn't under control anyway, as obviously no one was on the other end of the 'lead' supposedly attached!
Her stories, full of holes, more so than the holy cheese on Tom and Jerry cartoons!

Y'know what really gets to me is dog owners who profess to their dogs being so wonderful and well behaved. Everywhere you go-out in the country, streets and towns you hear ' 'he/she's so friendly etc.
Well, my son was bitten when he was two by a dear, well behaved dog who decided to jump out from the path of his owner's house.
My husband was ripped apart by an over protective collie when it decided to jump a fenced garden.
When my little sister was walking to school many years ago she was bitten by another lovely dog who went on to bite the neighbour who rescued her.
So each of these owners is to blame because neither was controlling their dear little dogs who are actually animals with incredibly sharp teeth that can do a lot of damage, not little darling people...grrr!
