LIFEBOAT volunteers from the RNLI rushed to the assistance of a yacht which got into difficulties off Swanage.
Swanage's all-weather Shannon class lifeboat launched to help the 24ft yacht, which had one person onboard, after it suffered engine failure in the tidal race at Peveril Point.
The skipper dropped anchor do stop him drifting back down the tide towards the rocks at Durlston Head.
But because of the strong ebb tide and the lack of wind, the skipper was unable to sail into the tide to recover his anchor.
An RNLI spokesman said: "The lifeboat launched, quickly located the yacht and put a crew member aboard.
"A tow line was connected and the yacht was gently towed into the tide so that the anchor could be recovered.
"Once this was done the yacht was towed to the RNLI mooring in Swanage Bay and the skipper taken ashore aboard the lifeboat so he could make arrangements to have the boat repaired."
The lifeboat was launched just after 6pm on Thursday (JUNE 7), and the yacht was recovered at 6.52pm.
