THE community of Wareham is pulling together after the tragic death of a three-year-old boy last week.

Dozens of tributes have been left to little Jaiden at the scene of the crash in North Street, Wareham on Thursday.

The town has seen an outpouring of grief since the collision which claimed the life of the toddler, also known as JJ.

Fundraising pages have been set-up in aid of the family, and an event is also due to take place in Wareham on Saturday in his memory.

Jaiden died in Dorset County Hospital after a collision involving an articulated Sainsbury's lorry. He had been crossing the road with his family when the crash took place.

The driver of the lorry, a 43-year-old man from Basingstoke, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.

Police enquiries into the crash continue.

An event will be held at Wareham Scout Hut on Saturday between 1pm and 3pm to raise money in Jaiden's memory.

It has been organised by Katie Brock, who has appealed for people to turn out in support of the family.

In a post for the event on Facebook, she said: "Let's get together as a community and show the family that we are all behind them."

A Crowdfunding page for the family has so far raised £3,630 towards the cost of the funeral.

A second page has also been set-up on Facebook.

Friday would have been Jaiden's fourth birthday. Masses of balloons, flowers, teddy bears, candles and messages have been left at the scene from family, friends and well wishers.

One said: "We will always remember that grin of yours and when we think of you being your cheeky little self, it will mend that hole in our hearts."

A blue balloon held a message from Jaiden's father, James, saying: "To my baby boy, I love you so much, love Daddy."

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the lorry being driven beforehand, to contact them on 101.
