A NEW wheelchair friendly garden path has been completed by volunteers at Holton Lee.

The finished project, at the wellbeing discovery centre, also includes an outdoor kitchen and a refurbished bird hide.

J.P.Morgan staff gave up their free time to complete the work at the 350-acre site at Holton Heath, near Sandford, which is run by the community charity Livability.

Holton Lee director Neil Stevens said: "The help from the J.P Morgan volunteers has been invaluable. We are so grateful and they have made a real difference."

A Livability spokesman explained that before the garden path was laid the area was very grassy, uneven and not very user friendly for a number of visitors - but now that has all changed.

"A second team worked to provide a cob oven and outdoor kitchen in The Ash Tree Cottage Gardens, which will be able to be used by all Holton Lee Visitors," explained the spokesman.

"Finally a third group completed the refurbishment of a bird-hide originally funded by J.P. Morgan around 12 years ago.

"The hide had been moved and the team were required to create a soil mound ramp for mobility scooter access and fit a new roof with the aim being to create a new accessible place for people to observe the Holton Lee wildlife."

The exterior of the hide was also redecorated, including the new wheelchair accessible platform.

Livability is a national charity that works to help improve the lives of disabled and vulnerable people.
