HIGH winds and heavy downpours hit Bestival-goers hard yesterday. The Dorset festival site was left a mud bath with steep hills adding a slip-and-slide element to the entertainment bill.

Cheers and 'wheys' become a regular sound as poor, unsuspecting revellers became victims to the slippery terrain. But it wouldn't be a festival without a bit of mud right? And although the rain did dampen the crowd's colourful clothes, it failed to dampen the mood.

After 13 years on the Isle of Wight, Bestival has flown the nest, to the site of its sister festival Camp Bestival: the stunning Lulworth Estate.

Being led by our bellies with a thirst for food rather than beer (we'd sampled enough beer the night before), we spent Saturday morning exploring what Bestival's food range had to offer. Situated behind Lulworth Castle we found the Feast Collective - an undercover (ideal) collection of foodie goodness with a DJ and bar, ensuring that everyone had a smile on their faces.

Back at the tent we'd made friends with our neighbours and they invited us to join them for Nick Mulvey. I'd never heard of him but was keen to hear something new, and I'm always open to discover new music. We joined them and headed down to the The Box Stage (Yes, DOWN to the stage - luckily I was victorious and conquered the old mud-and-slide this time despite a few close calls).

The xx headlined the Castle Stage Friday night. I'm a huge fan of the indie band but wasn't sure they were the right band to be headlining. I normally like an act that I can jump around to and have a bit of a party. But they well and truly proved me wrong - they excelled and put on a show I will remember forever. As soon as I heard the first few beats of 'Intro', I knew we were in for a treat as the crowd began to roar. The whole thing was mesmerising, from their majestic voices to their stage presence. A goosebump-inducing performance.
