DEVELOPERS will have new hoops to jump through to build in Lytchett Matravers.

Purbeck District Council has adopted its first Neighbourhood Plan following a referendum in the parish, which saw 93 per cent of those who voted backing the scheme.

Put together by a community committee, and derived from the 2011 Localism Act, the plan sets out restrictions on the scale, design and location of development in a given area.

District councillor Peter Wharf said: "This Neighbourhood Plan is the culmination of several years’ hard work by the parish council and local groups and I would like to thank all of the people of Lytchett Matravers who took part in this.

"It reflects the community’s vision for the future of the parish and provides parish residents with a voice in the planning process."

Alf Bush, chairman of the Lytchett Matravers Neighbourhood Plan Group, said the parish council would be "looking to develop the strategic village infrastructure projects included in the plan".

Other plans in Purbeck are being put together for Arne, Bere Regis and Wareham.
