DURLSTON Country Park is getting ready to host its first ever 'Durlston Dog Day'.

The event will include a number of dog shows, stalls, guided walks, and even a dog dancing contest.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and Purbeck Agility will be among the organisations represented.

Durlston's public engagement assistant Shannon Dugdale said: "With the good summer weather and a beautiful destination like Durlston Country Park, I think it is great to promote fun and friendly dog walking areas.

"The dog show will also be great fun and from walking around the park I have definitely seen some contenders for the prize of waggiest tail."

Meanwhile, senior ranger Katie Black said: "The guided walkies with Dorset Dogs are a great way to show people the amazing wildlife we have here on the park and the variety of walks on offer while promoting good dog walking behaviour."

The event is scheduled for 11am-3pm on July 1.

While entry to the park castle and dog day is free, dog show entries cost £2 per dog.
