A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car in the early hours of this morning.
The incident happened at around 2.30am at Sandford Road in Wareham and saw the road closed for several hours.
An 83-year-old man from Wareham was taken to Southampton hospital by land ambulance with what were initially believed to be life-threatening injuries.
He had suffered a fracture to his spine and wound to his left arm but his condition was later established to be non life-threatening.
A grey Fiat Punto was involved in the collision.
Officers closed the road for several hours while an investigation was carried out.
