SWANAGE Lifeboat Station and the UK Coastguard carried out a search after a surfer was reported missing.
Several surfers were enjoying good conditions in Kimmeridge Bay yesterday morning (FRI), but when one surfer spotted a floating surfboard with no sign of a surfer with it, the alarm was raised.
A search was carried out by RNLI volunteers, Kimmeridge Coastguard and the UK Coastguard helicopter for a possible person in the water.
According to a spokesperson for Swanage Lifeboat Station, the crew was “soon on scene” but nothing was found following a search in the area.
They added: “Meanwhile, Kimmeridge Coastguard were searching the shoreline and interviewing people on shore. They managed to locate both the first informant and a surfer who had lost a board after kit failure. When a board was found on the rocks close to Clavell Tower, the teams were able to confirm that nothing further was missing and all units were able to return to station.”
