LITTLE Kyra-Leigh Diffey is just 17-months-old but is currently fighting a devastating cancer battle that would have broken many.

In March she was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma – an aggressive form of cancer. She was just 11-months-old.

Her mum Jai was diagnosed with the exact same type of cancer when she was just two-years-old – finally getting the all clear when she was 17.

In the last nine months Kyra and single mum Jai have been living in hospital so she can get the treatment she needs to save her life.

With 16 months of treatment left to go Kyra and Jai still have a long road ahead which is why a group of family and friends from their home town of Swanage have launched a fundraising appeal to bring the magic of Christmas to Kyra’s hospital bed.

Kyra has undergone intensive and painful treatment which has caused some damage to her lungs but has not stopped smiling.

She was recently released from the ICU at Southampton General Hospital after almost dying three times but is now back at the Piam Brown oncology ward at the hospital.

“She’s my little miracle. Considering what she’s been through she still manages to keep fighting and keep smiling,” said Jai.

“She’s such a happy little girl to look at her sometimes you would never know she was so poorly.”

Jai has been told that Kyra’s condition is still considered to be critical and that anything could happen.

Speaking to the Echo she said: “I just have to remember that I was able to overcome this disease and hopefully so will she.

“We just need to make this Christmas special which was why I was so overwhelmed when I found out my friends had set up a fundraising appeal for us to help me give Kyra a wonderful Christmas.”

The fundraising page has been set up by family friend Kathy Atkinson who wanted to do something special for Kyra and Jai

“We want to give Kyra a magical Christmas,” said Kathy, 56.

“But we also would like to have some funds to give to Kyra’s mummy for that day when Kyra can go home so that she can take her out to places such as Peppa Pig World or Legoland, so that beautiful memories can be made. We don’t know what the future holds for this little one.”

So far the the Justgiving page has raised £573. To donate go to justgiving.com/crowdfunding/karli-atkinson
