Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was hit over the head with a golf club.
The alleged incident took place outside the Red Lion pub in North Street, Wareham, at 9pm on Tuesday, November 1.
The victim, a local man in his 60s, sustained a fractured skull and is receiving treatment in hospital.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
A 41-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm and is currently assisting officers with enquiries.
Detective Constable Adam Pilton, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in North Street at the time of the incident and witnessed what happened to please contact Dorset Police.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who saw a man carrying a golf club in the area at the relevant time.”
