The A31 has re-opened following an earlier crash in which two people were injured.

Police were called at around 11.10am today to reports of a crash between the Roundhouse Roundabout and Stag Gate.

The road was closed at the roundabout while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It re-opened shortly after 12.30pm.

The collision involved a silver Nissan, registered to a man from Hampshire.

The vehicle was blocking the road and recovery was requested.

The South Western Ambulance Service was also on the scene.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said that they were called shortly after 11am.

The service treated two casualties, a 66-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, both for chest injuries.

They were both taken to Poole Hospital but the injuries are not thought to be serious.

The fire service also attended the incident and made the scene safe before assisting the ambulance with casualty care.
