A WALKER was airlifted after suffering a broken ankle on the coastal path in Purbeck.
Swanage coastguard was called to the scene on Saturday afternoon.
South Western Ambulance Service had received a call from the walker's partner stating they were south of Verney Farm near Langton Matravers, and asked for the coastguard's assistance.
Paramedics arrived and started to treat the woman before the coastguard helicopter came in from Portland.
The coastguard said both walkers were "well prepared" but the woman slipped as she climbed over a stone stile and turned her ankle.
The coastguard team assisted the winch-man before transferring the woman via a stretcher to the aircraft for the short flight to the Poole helicopter landing site.
