Doctor Who's arch enemies The Daleks could be found roaming around The Tank Museum at the weekend.

Many visitors to this year's 'Attack of the Daleks' event dressed up as their favourite characters from the hit science fiction BBC television series.

Around 2,000 people visited the museum to see Davros and the Daleks during the two day event.

Tank Museum events coordinator Oliver Bitten told the Daily Echo: "The visitors have been interacting brilliantly with the Daleks.

"We've also got Unit soldiers here, so there are little skirmishes taking place around the museum "It is great to see the children and families interacting with the Daleks, trying to follow them and hunt them around the museum."

Over the weekend there were themed talks and demonstrations from the Doctor Who world.

There was also the chance to meet Jon Davey, a Doctor Who actor who has appeared in numerous episodes of the cult series.

A wide range of retro and sci-fi stalls were also on-site, giving fans the opportunity to purchase collectibles and themed merchandise from the Doctor Who franchise.

Oliver said: "Our normal exhibitions are open and we've had tracked vehicle rides outside in our main arena as well, so there's a lot going on.

"Attack of the Daleks marks the start of summer holidays at The Tank Museum, where there are activities every day for visitors to enjoy."

Activities running throughout the summer holidays include the popular Tanks in Action displays. Taking place every weekday, these displays include a variety of armoured vehicles roaring round the track accompanied by commentary and explosions.

There will also be talks, tours and trails available daily.
