COASTGUARDS were called to rescue an elderly man from Durdle Door after he fell.
The Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to the area on Saturday afternoon to help rescue the gentleman who had fallen. The Portland coastguard helicopter was called and the man was airlifted to Dorset County Hospital.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the man was ‘unconscious’ when he was taken to hospital.
They added that they tasked Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Team to man the helicopter landing site at the hospital’s A&E department.
A spokesman from Wyke CRT said: “The full team were paged just before 5pm on Saturday to provide an initial response team, the tasking was to prepare the helicopter landing site at A&E at Dorchester.
“The Portland coastguard rescue helicopter- Rescue 106- airlifted a casualty from a position west of Bats Head who required immediate hospital care.”
