HERITAGE rail carriages belonging to Swanage Railway have been targeted by graffiti vandals.

Spray paint was left covering part of the historic carriages during three overnight attacks in the last six weeks.

Two of the incidents happened at Herston Halt between February 18 and mid-March.

On March 16 more graffiti was found on a carriage at Corfe Castle.

Purbeck Police is appealing for anybody with information that may help identify the perpetrator to come forward.

The force has shared images of the vandalism on its Facebook page.

A force spokesman said: “The clean-up cost is expensive enough, but there's also the cost of not being able to use the carriages and the knock-on this has.

“If you recognise these 'tags' or suspect someone of committing these offences, please give us a call on 101 quoting crime number 55160049317.”
