BOTH Weymouth RNLI lifeboats were launched on Tuesday to a report from a member of the public of a capsized kayak off Durdle Door.

The all-weather lifeboat discovered it was a sailing dinghy which had been lost from the local Sea Cadet unit during the recent storm.

The inshore lifeboat then towed the dinghy towards Lulworth Cove.

A spokesperson for the UK Coastguard said: "We have recovered the boat.

"It appears to have been a sailing vessel that the Sea Cadets had lost in the high winds.

"At the moment, we have seen hundreds of vessels come loose from their moorings because of the bad weather over the last few days.

"We haven't heard any reports of anybody actually on the vessel."
