AN experienced diver disappeared at sea on a day trip exploring wrecks off the Swanage coast, an inquest has heard.

Andrew Moll did not resurface from diving a World War One wreck on Sunday, May 24 last year.

It wasn't until almost a month later on June 19 that his body was discovered at the Aparima wreck.

On Friday, assistant coroner Richard Middleton, sitting in Bournemouth, recorded the cause of death as misadventure.

Mr Moll, 56, from Taunton, was a keen diver with more than 30 years' diving experience and was a longstanding member of the Severnside branch of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC).

The inquest heard how on the day Mr Moll went missing, a group of eight divers from the club had driven from Bristol to explore two wrecks off the Swanage coast.

It was while diving the second wreck, the Aparima, that Mr Moll went missing and never resurfaced.

Brother-in-law Richard Holden described Andy as "a positive force in every way".

"He always said life was for adventure, exploration and fun," added Mr Holden.
