Station Road in Swanage has been re-opened after the emergency services worked to extinguish a kitchen fire.

Three fire crews from Wareham and Swanage raced to the scene to put out the flames, which is believed to started in a fridge.

A call came into the fire service at 7.46am with reports of the blaze in a domestic property along the road in the town centre.

Firefighters used a hose, a safety line and two sets of breathing apparatus to contain and extinguish the fire.

Four police cars and an ambulance were also on the scene.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said that they were called to attend by the fire service. There was one paramedic and one ambulance sent to the incident.

One male needed checking over, but was not expected to need hospital treatment.

All emergency services had left the scene by 9.03am.
