FAMILIES are being urged to attend the sixth RSPB Forage Festival at Arne Nature Reserve.

The annual fun-packed day brings together local traders, food producers and skilled craftsmen and women, who hold a number workshops and demonstrations throughout the day.

Visitors this year have the chance to try their hand at a host of traditional crafts and activities, including bush craft, hedge laying and foraging.

Morwenna Alldis, spokesperson for the RSPB south west said: “If you haven’t seen RSPB Arne nature reserve in its full autumnal glory, the annual Forage Festival is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature at its most colourful times of year. And this year’s festival is even bigger, even better and offers even more outdoors activities than in previous years.

“Families are promised a fun-filled day of hands-on activities – fancy learning how to lay a hedge? See yourself as Dorset’s answer to Bear Grylls and need to polish up on your bush craft skills? Or perhaps the idea of foraging your supper from the very fat of the land floats you boat? There will be something for everyone to enjoy at this fantastic family event, including, local traders selling their wares, local food stalls, craft stalls, live music and archery.”

The festival take place on Saturday 31st October, 11am-4 pm.

No booking is required and entry is £2 per person, which includes free entry into a raffle. Under -16s go free.
