KEEN cyclists are invited to sign up to a charity bike ride in Purbeck.

The fourth Rotary Dorset Sportive Charity Bike Ride in aid of Cancer Research runs on Sunday, September 6, meeting at Longthorns Camp Site, next to Monkey World, with a range of route lengths from 10 to 108 miles.

David King, organiser of the event, said: "The Dorset 108-mile Etape is a very challenging sportive ride with some great climbs through Dorset’s great countryside with over 7,000 feet of climbs.

"The route has been put together with the help of the Purbeck Peloton Cycle Club and has been designed for those who have ridden in similar events.

"In addition to the 108-mile Etape, there are 10, 22, 35, 44, 55, 71 and 81 mile routes. So whether you want a family ride or a real challenge there is a ride for you whatever your level.

"All routes are circular and mostly on country lanes to ensure you have an enjoyable ride."

Registration will open at 7.30am on the day, with staggered starts from 8am for the 108-mile Etape, 81 and 71-mile routes and between 9am to 10am for the rest of the routes, all of which are fully marked and marshalled.

Participants are also in with the chance of winning a host of prizes for the sponsorship including a prize draw for a new bike, six months' membership to a leisure club, £30 bike vouchers and more.
