A TRAILER carrying bales of hay tipped over and shed its load into a private garden early on Sunday morning.

Bere Regis resident Lee Hayes was alerted by police knocking on his door after the accident outside his home at around 7.30am.

The trailer, being pulled by a tractor along the A35, had tipped over onto his land.

“The police were knocking on the door this morning to check out the damage and say the people responsible were happy to put right all the damage,” he said.

“It looks like a tree’s been dislodged so it might be a costly repair bill.

“It looks like it was more a gentle toppling over than a high speed crash.”

He understood part of the road was closed while the hay was put onto another trailer.
