RSPB workers at Arne have been improving habitat for wading birds on the Wareham Meadows, as part of a project funded by Biffa Award.
The Biffa Award scheme is part of the Landfill Com-munities Fund, and awards grants to community and environmental projects across the UK.
RSPB operations manager Mark Singleton said: “We are lucky to have such amazing lowland meadows around Wareham and Poole Harbour, an area favoured by waders, which spend much of their time feeding along the edges of pools and channels.
“The improvements to ditches and pools will be perfect for them.”
The project includes new ditches, shallow pools and the removal of New Zealand Pygmy Weed, an invasive plant species.
