FLOOD alerts remain in place for the Dorset coast this morning, hours after Christchurch Quay and Mudeford were affected by flooding.

The alerts from the Environment Agency cover the entire east and west coast of Dorset including Bournemouth beach, Poole, Christchurch, Studland and Swanage.

They were issued yesterday, covering high tide last night and this morning.

The alerts say high tide along with force seven winds could cause flooding for up to two hours following high tide times.

The warnings for the east coast of Dorset are from 7pm on Thursday and 8am today.

High tide at Christchurch is at 9.15pm and 9.30am this morning.

The peak water levels are forecast to be 1.36m and 1.33m.

At Poole, high tide will hit at 9.30pm and 9.45am with expected water levels 1.24m and 1.22m.

Large waves were seen crashing against the quay wall at Mudeford last night, causing surface water flooding in the car park.

At Christchurch Quay, seawater was covering the car park by 9pm, near to the Old Mill Tearooms.

Around two inches of water overtopped the quay, swilling around cars parked by the Boathouse restaurant.
